80 % of Americans now favor importation
by
PharmTech
on Mon 18 Sep 2006 05:11 PM PDT
The wall street journal today announced after a survey of 2295 U.S. adults that 80% now favour importing drugs from countries like Canada where on average you will save 50%.
Although the mass majority want to be able to order Health Canada approved drugs, U.S. customs still seizes the odd package and is increasingly making it more hazardous to peoples health by not allowing the package to arrive on time.
Although this confiscation amount is less than 1% most pharmacies will resend the package at the request of the customer.

US Senate approves of imporing drugs from Canadian pharmacies
by
PharmTech
on Tue 11 Jul 2006 05:44 PM PDT
This just announced a few hours ago that the U.S. senate voted to allow importation of personal pharmaceuticals from Canada where drugs are on average 50% less than in the U.S.
The vote was 68 to 32 which will change the way customs agents will look at medicine when it comes over the border. In the past they would just mainly ignore most shipments, however now with this new vote Americans will be officially allowed to import on a personal level only from Canada.

Prices for seniors drugs are rising faster than inflation.
by
PharmTech
on Thu 22 Jun 2006 10:33 PM PDT
Arthritis drugs and cholesterol drug prices are rising for seniors in the U.S. even when the federal government talks about achieving lower costs for seniors medications. On average drug prices for seniors rose 3.7 percent since enrollment into medicare plan D in January.
The costs for medicare plan D are also rising to compensate for the increase in drug prices although the drug companies are saying that their prices are not rising however Families USA says many drugs at Phizer rose up to 6%.
When drug prices rise faster than inflation then you have a problem where only the rich can afford proper medical care.
For a solution to high medicare costs we suggest ordering from Canada where you will save up to 77% on prescription prices compared to U.S. pharmacies.

April Medicare Drug Problems Arise; Try a Canadian Pharmacy
by
Pharmacy
on Sat 18 Mar 2006 01:53 PM PST
On April 1, in the U.S. medical insurance providers will stop paying for some prescriptions they deem unnecessary. Most seniors drugs will be covered however many insurers will be gradually trying to move customers into buying less expensive and/or generic drugs that can save the insurance providers money. As an advance notice insurance providers will be sending a letter to their customers telling them if their drug will be covered.
What can you do if your drug is not covered by your insurance company anymore?
The quick solution obviously is to pay full price at your local pharmacy but for those that can't afford their medication, the easy answer is to order from a trusted Canadian pharmacy. In most cases a Canadian pharmacy will save you 50% on average and will carry the same brand name or generics drugs that your local pharmacy carries.

Veterans cannot sign up for health care. Try Canadian Pharmacies
by
Pharmacy
on Tue 24 Jan 2006 11:21 PM PST
Today it was just announced that more than a quarter million veterans considered to have higher incomes cannot sign up for health care with the Veterans Affairs Department because of a cost cutting move.
The total number is around 250000 that will not qualify and have been given the cold shoulder. What it all came down to was budget funding. There were areas that were not met and it looks like the Veterans were the ones where the cuts were made.
Solution for this and other veterans? Many still have adequate health care but for those that don't they can always order from Canada and save on prescriptions. Many Canadian pharmacies are APO/FPO friendly and will deliver to veterans serving in the forces around the world.

What to look for when ordering from a Canadian Pharmacy
by
Pharmacy
on Sat 17 Dec 2005 03:38 PM PST
With many online pharmacies from Canada and around the world operating globally online, we came accross an excellent breakdown of what you should look for before making a purchase.
Here is the reference, but this is what it says:
http://www.aarp.org/bulletin/yourmoney/Articles/0405_sidebar_10.html
An estimated 80-90 websites now offer to sell prescription drugs at lower Canadian prices. Reputable pharmacies say they use the following safety and service standards:
- Display the pharmacy's license number and name of the authority that granted it. Canadian pharmacies are licensed and regulated by the College of Pharmacy in each province. Consumers can call them to verify pharmacies' status.
- Require patients to provide a doctor's prescription, which will be reviewed by a Canadian doctor as required by Canadian law. (Sites that say prescriptions are not needed are risky.)
- Require patients to submit details of their medical history.
- Provide the pharmacy's mailing address and a telephone number that patients can call to speak with a pharmacist or ask questions about the service. (Sites that allow only e-mail contact are suspect.)
- Explain differences between American and Canadian drugs and labels and why some medications are not sold.
77 Canada Pharmacy practises all these standards and uses only authentic health Canada approved medicine. Our medicine does not come from another country and is strictly monitored to ensure we follow the highest standards required of Canadian pharmacies.

As we all know, there are many U.S. troops stationed in countries and on bases around the world. With Americans spending $235 Billion a year on prescription drugs and the prices continuing to rise, more and more people that can and cannot afford insurance are looking to Canada for prescription drugs.
Consumer Reports looked at a few of the savings. Zocor which is a popular cholesterol drug, costs $208 in Canda and $434 in the U.S. Prevacid costs $379 in the U.S. and costs just $197 in Canada. These are just averages, but in general a person will save anywhere from 20% to 80% on drugs from Canada.

A few more facts about buying prescription drugs from Canada
by
Pharmacy Guru
on Tue 19 Jul 2005 12:34 AM PDT
The rumour out there is that Canada's health minister is banning bulk drug exports into the United States in the coming months. Although this has not gone through, we expect it to happen and be approved in the coming weeks.
This is what it means.....Does the individual who gets a monthly prescription for Celebrex or Lipitor buy in bulk??? No, they don't they are only allowed to buy 3 months supply at a time. Thus, this does not qualify as a bulk export. What does happen is exactly what it is, bulk exports of drugs sent back to the United States after they have been purchased at lower wholesale prices in Canada.
You will find that the vast majority of Canadian Pharmacies support this as they look forward to doing legal business with individuals who need to save a few dollars every month.
Another thing that I read today was a great article on Conterfeit medication. the article can be found here .
The most interesting and maybe it is true or maybe it isn't but the fact that the FDA goes on to accuse Canada of conterfeit medicine when the U.S. practises repackaging where small companies buy and sell a variety of medicines, which allowes counterfeit drugs to enter the supply.
This happening in Canada is very rare because of the already low prices. Here is a quote from the author "The FDA won't admit it, but buying drugs from legitimate Canadian pharmacies may be safer than buying from the drugstore down the block."

Some Canadian Pharmacies look to other countries for supplies
by
Pharmacy Guru
on Mon 18 Jul 2005 11:03 PM PDT
With the growing demand for prescription drugs from Canada and the customers desire to try new countries identical replicas or generic equivalents at different prices, some Canadian Online Pharmacies are now allowing people to order from other countries.
These countries include, England, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, and Chile. Yes, all these countries have less expensive drugs than the prices drug companies charge U.S. citizens buying prescription drugs in their own country.
Some questions that will be asked is basically the same that Canadian pharmacies get asked on a regular basis...."are they the same?" "Are they approved?" , and "is this legal?" While the answer might vary slightly the truth is, all countries have approved government inspectors similar to the FDA to inspect drug safety. The strictest of all countries is Canada when it comes to drug safety. Canada is usually one of the last countries to have a drug approved due to their strict standards.
So...if I can offer one bit of advice, always do your due diligence before making a purchasing decision. When you have made your decision it could lead to major savings for you and your family.

Ordering over the counter items from Canada
by
Pharmacy Guru
on Tue 21 Jun 2005 09:48 PM PDT
There are also benefits to ordering over the counter items from Canada. For example in some cases, some items in the United States are prescription only which require you to go to the doctor and ask for a prescription and then go and pay dispensing fees before you get the item. After this is all done, you end up paying alot of money and you spent a couple hours of your time.
Some of the items that are non prescription in Canada are, Emla Cream, Synvisc Injection, all other Osteoarthritis injections, Syringes, Clarinex, and Zyrtec.
These can all be purchased online and are generally less expensive than buying in the U.S.

Study says few Online Pharmacies are based in Canada.
by
Pharmacy Guru
on Thu 16 Jun 2005 05:37 PM PDT
Read an article today about how few online pharmacies are based in Canada. This study examined 11000 pharmacies over the internet and was conducted by the U.S. FDA.
There are a simple reason for this that the FDA does not mention. One reason is affiliates. It is not diffucult for anyone to design a website and become and affiliate for a pharmacy anywhere in the world, but that does not mean that the actual pharmacy is not 100% Canadian.
The internet is a different way to advertise, and people that regularly shop on the internet know that it is a global economy and people if they want can make money advertising TVs from Japan, or Brazil nuts from Brazil.
The fact is, if you do your homework, you will see that all Canadian Pharmacies, be it on the internet and/or retail outlets are highly controled and regulated by Canada Health. There are random inspections of all medicines, management, and dispensing and distribution methods.
This does not mean that a major company can't set up shop in Canada that has owners around the world. There are drug stores in the U.S. that are owned by foreigners also. Does this mean that the drugs you buy in the U.S. are not safe????
Don't let the FDA scare you, Canada is not some 3rd world country, if you ever have been here you would see how regulations are enforced to ensure safety to a standard equal and greater to many countries in the world.
